The best way to end the year and celebrate the holidays is to bring a guest and join us for drinks and appetizers as we view the annual boat parade from the comfort of our newly renovated space.  The boats light up the bay as they cruise by with dinosaurs spraying fire, Minions, the Disney Electrical Parade, a pirate ship, and Christmas Trees and Reindeer.
Another of our highlight events is our End of Summer Beach Luau held every year in September on the beach in Newport.  We listen to live music and enjoy appetizers and drinks while we roast a hog to be served as the main course while watching the sunset over the pacific.
In the Harbor, we break out the Duffy’s and have organized scavenger hunts and dock and dine events.  A great way to socialize and explore the Harbor.  As the days grow longer, we also have sunset cruises during the week on the larger boats.  A wonderful way to end a long day with friends.
This Signature Event officially opens the boating season and it’s the kick off to a busy spring and summer of boating for many avid boaters.  Fortunately, living in Southern California, sailors do not have to remove their boats from the frozen harbors each winter.   What makes it official is when the announcement is made during Opening Day that the harbor is indeed “clear of ice”.   The only ice floating around should be in your drink.
January holds our Annual Black-Tie Event with the installation of the new Bridge & Board.  This Signature event consists of Cocktails, Dinner, Awards and Dancing to the best bands around.  This annual kick-off is just the start for the new year to plan events, meet our goals and to just have fun!
South Shore’s most attended and longest standing tradition is our 2nd Friday Dinners.  All club members and their guests are invited to join us on the 2nd Friday of every month for theme dinners. The themes are fun and friendly and often involve costumes and dancing.  And the food prepared by NBYC’s chef and staff is by far the best of any Yacht Club in the harbor.
