Cruising

Every year in October, Avalon puts on a spectacular two week event known as Jazz Fest featuring many great musical artist and lots of activities.  This is our last cruise of the season and is well attended because Avalon offers plenty of accommodations for those members and guests who are not up for long nights as sea.  We pick the weekend that features our favorite musicians and set sail to Avalon on Friday and arrive in time for happy hour…
If you’re looking for a reason to join a yacht club, this is it.  Shrimptastic is the epitome of Southern California cruising.  Held in August when the weather is hot and the water is warm, we guarantee a fabulous time;  One member even questioned if having this much fun was actually legal.  This cruise includes a Friday evening Cocktail Hour on a member hosted yacht, and our signature Saturday evening shrimp boil on the beach after a day of island…

The atmosphere is truly indescribable, so we…
The Channel Islands Memorial Day Cruise is the signature cruise of our 2017 SSYC Commodore, Juli King who dubbed 2017 the “hour of adventure”.  It takes place Memorial Day weekend giving us an extra day for the journey and plenty of time to explore what is commonly referred to as “the Galapagos of the West Coast”.
The whale population is so robust in San Pedro Channel and along Newport Coast that with a little coordination, we can hold our own private whale watching cruise and almost guarantee whale sightings.  We load a powerboat or two with members and guests, along with some drinks and appetizers, then we tune the radio to the whale watcher’s channel and head out to sea.
